Week 2

at Cairo Scarabs

Final

L 21-28 OT

Game Summary

The Devils forced overtime in Cairo behind Rodrigo Martinez, but a late Scarabs strike ended the night in a 28-21 defeat.

Heartbreak in the Sand

It was a chess match for the ages under the prime-time lights, but the Devils fell 28-21 in overtime to the Cairo Scarabs.

Despite the sweltering 92-degree field temperatures inside the Stadium of Set, Rodrigo Martinez refused to wilt. He leaned heavily on newly acquired star tight end Anthony DeLuca and helped force overtime with a late quarterback draw.

Unfortunately, former Devils receiver Marcus Williams stung Los Angeles with a 72-yard touchdown catch, and Yash Bajwa iced the game in overtime with a wild 22-yard wildcat run.

Around the League

Dublin pulled off the upset of the week, stunning the Tokyo Steel 20-14 after a game-sealing interception in the end zone that left Tokyo wide receiver Davis Meyer furious at his quarterback.

The most surprising story unfolded in Seoul, where star strong safety Lim Ho Sook stepped in as the emergency quarterback to run the wildcat, rushing for 170 yards and two touchdowns to beat Sydney.
