Week 7

vs London Lions

Final

W 20-16

Game Summary

The Devils stymied the elite London Pride secondary by utilizing a heavy rushing attack and a trick play to secure a 20-16 home win.

Devils Ground the Lions!

Head Coach Bill Moran surprised the London Lions by starting Marcus Boone at quarterback while heavily featuring Rodrigo Martinez in the ground game. The Devils’ offensive line pushed the Lions around, allowing Martinez to carry the ball 22 times for 115 yards. Boone managed the game perfectly with fakes, play-action, and safe underneath passes to Anthony DeLuca, completely neutralizing London’s famous secondary.

With the game tight in the third quarter and LA trailing 13-7, the Devils reached into their bag of tricks. Martinez took a pitch and utilized his massive arm on a half-back option, hitting his wide receiver for the go-ahead touchdown. The Devils added two more field goals to close out the gritty 20-16 victory.
